Geovision server handles 128 channels on one site

Taipei, Taiwan

Geovision is launching several surveillance-focused application severs to meet the specific demands of the security industry, including the GV-recording server, GV-redundant server, and GV-failover server.
With the growth of IP video, very large scale sites face the challenges for storage and redundant options. Geovision's GV-recording server is a power storage option as it receives and stores as many as 128 IP video channels at a single location, for later retrieval when needed. At traditional DVR/NVR locations, a site of 1,000 IP cameras may need 32 DVR/NVR units on site for viewing and storage (assuming each DVR/NVR supports 32 channels). With the GV-recording sever, the number of server units is down to 8 in this case, which saves 4 times as much space. One GV-recording server receives and stores up to 128 channels from various Geovision IP devices, including IP cameras, video servers, compact DVRs, and compatible 3rd-party IP cameras.

To playback, the operator may access the GV-recording server by an IE browser remotely, or from one of the supporting Geovision management software tools such as GV-system (DVR/NVR system), GV-GIS (geographic information system), GV-control center (central monitoring system) and Multi view (viewing software). GV-recording server could simultaneously send up to 300 channels to these client systems, adding the flexibility for remote playback management.

GV-Recording Sever is also a good storage option for mobile devices on the go. When the mobile device is on a 3G wireless network, most of the current storage solution is to save to the on-board or attached devices (such as SD card or external HDD). However, with the GV-recording Server, supported mobile devices (GV-video server, GV-compact DVR) will stay connected to the GV-recording server, transmitting video without needing to know the public IP addresses of the mobile devices.

If the system integrators are familiar in configuring application severs, they may design their own servers to meet their specific needs, or, Geovision offers dedicated servers with the purchased application pre-loaded on request. This leaves only the least and the crucial specifics for the system integrators to determine. The server comes with selections of different housings, ranging from 3U to 4U, and 8/16/20 bays. With the current hard drive sizes on the market (3Tb for example), a 20-bay model will allow a storage of 60Tb.
