TÜV Rheinland certifies Dahua products as GDPR compliant

Hangzhou, China

Mr. Zhang Junchang on behalf of Dahua receives the TÜV Rheinland Certification

Just one day before the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect, Dahua Technology became the first company in the global video surveillance industry to receive a certification towards its IP video products from TÜV Rheinland, meaning the aforementioned IP products are in compliance with GDPR.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a set of new law by which the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission intend to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union,“ most stringent in history”, was implemented on May 25th, 2018. GDPR establishes strict, high-level, wide-scope protection standards for personal data. Wherever a company is located, as long as it processes personal data of an EU citizen during the provision of products or services, it must comply with GDPR.

Dahua Technology, a leading solution provider in the global video surveillance industry, has successfully applied GDPR personal data protection standards and TUV Rheinland’s IoT security and privacy protection standard towards products that are shipping globally, including those shipping to countries and regions outside of the EU. This allows Dahua Technology’s global users to enjoy surveillance products that have the same protection level as those in EU.

In and out of the EU, the concerns about cyber security are souring news these days. Being the first in the global video surveillance industry to be certified by TÜV Rheinland demonstrates Dahua Technology’s achievements against cyber security, and also means that customers who use Dahua Technology’s certified IP products are also able to meet the GDPR standard.

The certification procedure is closely related to the company’s whole management system. Its smooth roll out showcases Dahua Technology’s emphasis on product quality and compliance. Dahua aims to relentlessly make use of its internal sources as well as professional third party partners like TÜV Rheinland to create more value for its customers and users.

Personal data security and data subject rights should be respected and protected and according to Dahua, this is only the beginning. Also today, Dahua has shared a white paper, entitled, "How Can Dahua Products Help Users Comply with GDPR".
