Dahua embraces the AI era

Shenzhen and Hangzhou, China

Mr. Fu Liquan, Chairman of the Board, Dahua

At the Dahua media conference, one day before the CPSE 2017 show in Shenzhen, Mr. Fu Liquan expressed his sincere thanks to the great support of customers and partners and said, "Dahua has established core competency in video centric technologies. Let’s strengthen our partnership, focus on Artificial Intelligence and build an Industrial Ecosystem to capitalise on the emerging trend together."

The Dahua product launch and press conference took place in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Shenzhen, on 28th October, a day before the grand opening of the 16th China Public Security Expo. At the press conference, Dahua Chairman, Mr. Fu Liquan, together with Dahua's top-management, industry experts, and business elite came together to present and discuss future trends, Dahua's plans, and how to capitalise on the rise of artificial intelligence.

Mr. Fu Liquan started by extending his gratitude to all guests and Dahua partners and customers that from all over the world. "With trust and support, Dahua can and has achieved what we are today. Dahua commits to grow on innovation-driven development. Dahua has successfully accomplished transition from analogue to digital HD and to intelligent video, from products to solutions further to operating services; we have made remarkable achievements."  He pointed out, "Facing the unprecedented opportunity presented by the era of smart IoT, Dahua has been working on our core capabilities, exploring adjacent technologies and business sectors, and integrating the business value chain to become a leading smart IoT solution yet service provider." Dahua will pragmatically drive the implementation of new technologies to help customers to take advantage of the market transition."

In the conference,  Mr. Zhang Xingming, VP of Dahua, brought up the concept of “Smart Future” that is exerting full power in four factors: computing, intelligence, sensing and ecosystem in industrial migration and transformation.

Dahua “Deep Sense” is an AI-powered product series based upon the advantages of edge computing, such as narrow bandwidth, low latency, high security, good reliability and low cost. Its “Sharp eye” all-in-1 camera adopts the Movidius solution, realising full scale capture of details and supporting real-time comparison of 8 face attributes and 8 body characteristics in a database of up to 1 million records. The “Deep Sense” series NVR uses the Nvidia TX1 and Intel FPGA solution to realise fusion analysis, comparison, retrieval and storage, supporting 32-channel real-time video structuring and real-time comparison of 100,000 face database. The video structure server of the series uses Nvidia P4 solution that supports 192 real-time video structuring and 256-channel real-time comparison of a 100 million face database.

Dahua also launches its first AI-powered smart X-ray detection server, which automatically identifies control items such as knives, umbrellas, batteries, and liquids, realising a substantial increase in detection rates and reduction in operating costs. A Portrait of big data is also launched, which uses the time and space information of a target person’s trajectory and face attribute to identify people accompanying the target. Human body posture analysis adopts joint point positioning technology to achieve non-facial based people detection and search.

He gave an introduction on the ultra-high-resolution “Guardian” panoramic series, the Aurora camera series, and HDCVI 4.0 --supports 4K real-time transmission, audio high fidelity and integrated IoT sensing technology--in depth. Mr. Zhang emphasised, most importantly, their advanced converged architecture X80 product which converges computer, switch, storage, AI computation, business logic into a single box. The X80 supports 130 million person/day face modeling, 800 channels of real time video structuring, 20 billion people/second real time face comparison to meet the needs of metropolitan of up to 10 million population. It reduces power consumption by 40% and space occupation by 60%. It is undoubtedly “the strongest thinking machine” for smart city, smart business and smart living.

Dahua will further partner with leading companies in the respective territory to form an industrial ecosystem focus on AI technology and the implementation in smart IoT, to meet the technical and business challenges brought by the disruptive innovation in the era of Artificial Intelligence. Dahua leadership team commit, "Dahua will continue to focus on technology innovation to drive growth. With our core competency in “audio, visual, smart, and control”, Dahua can and will help to improve city safety, business productivity and a good experience of smart living for all good."
