Compact, multifunctional and easy to use Video Encoder/Decoder

Nuernburg (Germany)

AVT is presenting for the first time at IfSEC 2006 the new, compact TITAN VC2 Video Encoder/Decoder which can be used for live video transmission over 2-Mbit/s and Ethernet networks. The system can be easily controlled by a Windows based PC software which is included in delivery as well as from the front keypad and the graphical display. Due to its menu structure being similar to standard mobile phones, the TITAN VC2 Video Codec is easy to use even by non experienced personnel.

TITAN VC2 encodes video pictures according to advanced H.261 with CIF resolution (288 lines x 352 pixels), 30 frames per second and data rates of n*64-kbit/s (n=1...30). An integrated, transparent data interface is available for remote camera and video matrix control.

Application 1 - Live Video over 2-Mbit/s Leased Lines with TITAN VC2/2M
TITAN VC2/2M provides a 2-Mbit/s interface according to ITU-T Rec. G.703/G.704. The interface is implemented as a 120 Ohm symmetrical or a 75 Ohm unsymmetrical interface. Also a 6dB or 40dB level attenuation reserve can be selected. If 40dB is selected, twisted pair copper wires can be directly connected to the TITAN VC2/2M and a distance of up to 2km can be bridged without any transmission equipment.

Two Encoders/Two Decoders version
TITAN VC2/2M can be configured as a single Encoder or a single Decoder with a video data rate of up to 1920-kbit/s or as a double Encoder or a double Decoder, each with a video data rate of 960-kbit/s.

Application 2 - Live Video over Copper Wires with TITAN VC2/2M
Live Video transmission over twisted copper pairs can be realised using the TITAN VC2 equipment together with SDSL modems that allow a data rate of up to 2048-kbit/s over the twisted copper pairs. Distances of up to 10 km can be bridged without repeaters. If two repeaters are used distances up to 30 km can be bridged.

Application 3- Live Video transmission over Ethernet networks with TITAN VC2/IP
The TITAN VC2/IP Encoder and Decoder can be connected to TCP/IP networks over its integrated Fast Ethernet 10/100Base-T interface. Encoder addresses can be stored in the Decoder. No PC is required for operation since the Encoders and Decoders can be completely operated via the front display and keypad.
Event triggered Remote Audio Surveillance with AVT's MAGIC AC1 Security Audio Codec
The MAGIC AC1 Security Audio Codec is a compact ISDN Dual Audio Codec. It has G.711 (3.1-kHz), G.722 (7-kHz) as well as MPEG Layer II/III (15-kHz) coding algorithms. In addition to analogue and digital Audio interfaces the MAGIC AC1 Security has a headset interface, two serial data interfaces which can be configured as RS485 or RS232 interfaces and freely programmable GPIO contacts.
MAGIC AC1 Security is equipped with special features for event triggered Remote Audio Surveillance for security purposes:

• Event Triggered: calling numbers which are dialled up after a TTL input is activated can be stored in the system, i.e. an Audio detection unit can trigger dialling.

• Access Control by Calling Numbers Check: calling numbers for incoming calls can also be stored in the system. The stored numbers are compared with the transmitted calling numbers before calls are accepted. A call is only accepted if the calling number is stored in the system.

• Integrated Audio Ring Buffer: if a connection is established by a TTL contact triggered by an external Audio event, important details of the Audio signal would be lost because of the time needed to establish the connection. Therefore, a variable Audio ring buffer of up to 12 seconds can be activated in the system to buffer the signal and transmit it delayed by the buffer time. In this way, missing Audio information can be avoided.

• Automatic Keypad Interlock: the system can be protected by a PIN against unauthorised access. The keypad interlock can be activated manually or automatically.

• Automatic Display Switch-off: to avoid an undesirable display of information, an automatic display switch-off can be activated. The information on the display is not visible before the PIN is entered. The display switch-off can be combined manually or automatically with the keypad interlock.
