Comnet releases first Ethernet switch from Copperline range

Danbury, Ct (USA)

Comnet is introducing the CLFE4US1TPC, the first of many new models from its Copperline product range, the device is a unique Ethernet switch combining four 10/100TX Ethernet signals and transporting them over one coaxial cable or RJ-45 cable.
The CLFE4US1TPC can extend the transmission distance to 1500 metres using COAX or 900 metres using RJ-45 cable. This product is designed for applications where existing copper media, such as coaxial cable or twisted pair (UTP) is currently installed and an upgrade to an IP–based system is required.

According to Andrew Acquarulo Jr., Comnet President and COO, “as more and more facilities are making the transition from analogue to IP video, there already exists a large installed base of copper media, be it coaxial cable or twisted pair wiring and this product allows that existing infrastructure be utilised. We introduced this product to give our customers a significant cost-saving benefit. The CLFE4US1TPC allows a fourfold increase in IP camera deployment without increasing the required transmission media.

This represents measurable savings versus the cost of new media and labor, a tremendous advantage in today’s competitive marketplace.”

In addition, “the Copperline product series features models that provide up to 16 channels that can be supported in a one RU high rack-mount chassis. We’ll be releasing these models very soon,” Acquarulo concluded.

“By introducing Copperline, Comnet continues to recognise the requirements of the market and develop unique solutions to meet those needs. Although Comnet was founded with a core competency focused on fibre optic transmission, we’re evolving the company to be a single source for all types of transmission through different media”, commented Frank Haight, Comnet Vice President of Marketing. “Our research identified extended distance Ethernet-over-copper as a great solution for renovation and system upgrades that were making the transition from analogue to IP. Copperline was developed to fulfill that need”, Haight concluded.
