Cairo, Egypt

SDiB is a leading debating platform for safety and fire professionals in the construction industry. Initiated in collaboration with Intersec in 2012, the Safety Design in Buildings conference campaign debates safety standards and practices in the built environment. Expert Talks for an improved protection of people and buildings take place annually and are presented in every Gulf Country and Cairo is the venue for the event taking place on 17th October 2016.

The current cycle of events investigates concepts of integration for safety and security related aspects of high occupancy buildings with a view to strategy planning, material, system requirements. The conference brings leading fire safety consultants, architects, engineers and testing experts together with safety system suppliers to give updates on industry standards and provide a debating platform for best practice.

The conference aims to provide its participants with insights into varying subjects and topical points of discussion including the engineering faults in the Jazan hospital fire tragedy, developing safety design strategies for buildings, designing fire and life safety for airports, integrating safety and security concepts into high occupancy buildings and guidance to facade fire safety audits.

The event takes place at the JW Marriott Hotel in Cairo, where the day begins with a networking breakfast and then the event is split into two sessions covering the above mentioned topics and then finally culminating in a group panel discussion on the integration of safety and security concepts.
