Aira now supports the H264 version of the ATEME VSIP2 encoder.

Waterloo, ON (Canada)

Aimetis Corp announce that the company's acclaimed video software solution AIRA now supports the H264 version of the ATEME VSIP2 encoder.

ATME's VSIP2 product is a compact audio/video encoder for transmitting any analog video source over IP networks. AIRA, Aimetis's advanced open IP-surveillance software product, simultaneously enables digital video recording, intelligent video analysis and also remote access to live and recorded images from any networked computer.

When used together, this solution allows the camera to monitor and recognize any movement from an individual, all operates in a low bit rate environment while providing excellent image quality and a high frame rate. The combination of AIRA with VSIP2 provides an integrated solution able to analyze the behavior of various elements within the monitored environment. For in-camera analytics, Aimetis's VE250 motion-tracking can also be embedded in the VSIP2 resulting in lower CPU consumption.

Aimetis has chosen ATEME's IP encoder because of its capacity to transmit data via IP networks including analogue video, and also for its video compression, which is conveyed by a high video quality even in the case of low bandwidth.

"This partnership therefore allows ATEME to add analytics capability to VSIP2, giving security professionals an exceptional and unique offer in providing a cost-effective and powerful solution to their surveillance needs. With ATEME and Aimetis, customers are able to have a best-in-class interoperable encoder combined with the finest in real-time intelligent analysis software," states Thierry Tourneux, director of the video security business unit at ATEME.

"We are very excited to count ATEME as one of Aimetis' technology partners. The integration of the H.264 version of ATEME's encoder will add considerable value to our AIRA solution. We can now offer a complete and flexible solution incorporating a full set of features: high video quality in H.264 at low bit rates, easy integration and interoperability with all the standard H.264 players on the market," notes Marc Holtenhoff, chief executive officer of Aimetis.
