ONVIF is now working on adopting the H265 in a (video) profile but over the last years there has been a great deal of focus on standards for access control. Per Björkdahl admits it is harder to encourage access control manufacturers to adopt open standards compared to video surveillance manufacturers.
“It is slightly different – the channel looks a bit different. I think also that the industry is more used to a propriety scenario, but we can see signs that the end users, installers and integrators are starting to embrace the new methods and a majority of the major access control companies are members of ONVIF and prepared for this shift”, he says.
