Ksenia embraces global sustainable communities goals

Ripatransone, Italy

Urbanisation has led over the years to significant economic, social, and cultural growth. Cities are today the centre of innovation and great opportunities, but, according to Ksenia, we cannot underestimate the enormous environmental impact they have. The company found recent statistics that show, despite cities occupying only 3% of the earth’s surface, they are responsible for the consumption of more than half of global resources and CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

To ensure that cities continue to grow over the years without irreversibly damaging the environment, an action plan is necessary to make them safer, more inclusive, and sustainable.

In the 2030 agenda drawn up by the United Nations the objectives are clear: ensuring access to safe housing for all, providing basic services, planning a sustainable mobility system, improving waste management, and safeguarding the cultural and natural heritage that cities offer.

In order to achieve these objectives, it is important that institutions have a social sustainability programme, oriented towards inclusion and the fight against poverty, and environmental, aimed at reducing the amount of smog in the various urban centres.

Ksenia emphasises that we must not forget that each of us can contribute to the cause with small and simple precautions such as, for example, reducing the use of our car, optimising energy consumption, and taking care with waste collection.

What action is Ksenia taking?

Besides being one of the founding values of the company, sustainability represents, for Ksenia, a philosophy to be transmitted to its employees, customers, and suppliers, thus helping to create a society oriented to a greener future.

The company headquarters offers a real oasis of sustainability.  The company boasts the highest energy class and the building is able to produce renewable energy independently thanks to the photovoltaic system on the roof of the structure.

Ksenia is in favour of sustainable mobility, for this reason, they have implemented the "Made in Marche" policy as an integral part of the corporate strategy, and it aims to do everything locally, from business activities to the choice of local suppliers, in order to limit transport CO2 emissions.

In addition, Ksenia offers its employees the possibility to work remotely to drastically reduce the production of carbon dioxide related to home-work trips.

The cultural and natural heritage of Italian cities is an invaluable resource: for this reason, starting this year Ksenia is supporting the foundation FAI-Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano, that deals with protecting a large number of assets in Italian cities, in favour of sustainability and environmental care.
