Suprema live scanners achieve stamp of approval for India UID project

Seoul, Korea

The Suprema Inc. Realscan-G10 and Realscan-10 fingerprint live scanners have been tested as within full compliance to receive the final certification from the Government of India's STQC (Standardisation Testing & Quality Certification) for the country's UID(Unique ID, India's next generation national ID) project.
The STQC certification is an essential requirement for procurements of the $4.4 billion UID project and ensures that devices satisfy API specifications presented by UIDAI. The STQC provides quality assurance services in IT and electronics through its countrywide network of laboratories. With the UID project, it is mandatory for all live scanner vendors to qualify for STQC's final certificates on top of their existing provisional certificates which are only valid for 6 months.

Both Realscan-G10 and Realscan-10 are compact-sized portable fingerprint live scanners which, according to Suprema, provide impressive capture speed and clear image quality by using the company’s optical image processing technology. The device performs an image scan rate of over 20 frames per second using internal DSP and image processing technology.

"Realscan series ten-print scanners have been specially developed to meet high-level requirements for India’s UID project which demands fast and high quality image capturing and extra durability in India’s harsh environments. The device features a dust and waterproof rugged structure with IP54 certification required by UIDAI," said Young S. Moon, Vice President at Suprema. "Key technology in our live scanners is based on our in-depth expertise in biometrics and image processing as well as our years of experience in large-scale government and public projects," Young added.

Suprema's live scanners have been chosen for several worldwide civil and criminal ID projects in the United States, India, Brazil and EU countries.
