Smiths wins contract to protect Super Bowl

Smiths Detection was recently awarded a contract by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to help provide security at Super Bowl XLVII in East Rutherford, NJ yesterday.
Smiths Detection technologies was featured as part of a layered security framework to help protect teams, staff, and visitors at the Super Bowl from a broad range of potential threats.  The systems includes handheld Multi-Mode Threat Detectors (MMTD) and Sabre 5000 units, both used to detect trace amounts of hazardous materials in the air, including explosives and toxic industrial chemicals.

MMTD is a rugged, handheld device used in harsh environments for the rapid detection and identification of explosives, narcotics, toxic industrial chemicals and chemical warfare agents. The Sabre 5000 is a small, light handheld system used to screen for trace amounts of explosives, chemical warfare agents, toxic industrial chemicals or narcotics.
