Simultaneous detection and identification on a single camera

Sidney , Australia

iOmniscient now launches the IQ-Hawk - a system that allows the user to do detection and identification at the same time using the same camera, with detection of new events still possible when the identification is taking place. Using a mega-pixel camera, the IQ-Hawk presents the first commercially robust Detection Cum Identification engine. The system is designed to interface with Facial Recognition systems from various third parties and can also use iOmniscient's own Licence Plate Recognition.

Traditionally when Intelligent Surveillance was used for Detection on a camera a wide view was required - for instance to see a long road to detect if a car stopped where it should not or to see if a fence line was breached by intruders. If an event occurred and the operator wanted to identify the person or the vehicle the camera had to be zoomed in to get a closer look at the person or vehicle. The zooming action meant that the original scene was no longer in view of the camera and detection had to be stopped. During the period that the Identification was done if some other event occurred (such as a second person intruding from a different direction) it would be missed as the Detection would not be operational.
Recognizing the critical threats incurred by an un-monitored detection area, IQ-Hawk takes a completely different approach to solving this problem. If an event is detected such as a car having stopped where it should not then the system automatically zooms in on the vehicle and can read the license plate. If an intruder is detected breaching the perimeter of an area then IQ-Hawk can automatically digitally zoom and carry out facial recognition on him. This could be done simultaneously on the same camera, with multiple events being detected even while the camera is carrying out identification on all the vehicles and persons detected.
IQ-Hawk can use any of the IQ Series detection products including Abandoned Object Detection in a Crowd, Theft Detection in a Crowd, Perimeter Protection and Intruder Detection, Counting, Illegal Parking Detection and Graffiti and Vandalism in a Crowd. The first customer shipment for this patent pending technology is expected over the next month.
IQ-Hawk is sure to revolutionize the ways in which surveillance operations are traditionally carried out and the convergence of Detection and Identification technologies will greatly increase the safety, accuracy and security in many applications.
iOmniscient has been recognized as the leader in Intelligent Video Surveillance having won major Security Industry Awards in the UK, Europe, USA, Asia and Australia. iOmniscient's Non Motion Detection (NMD) products are the only products on Earth that can accurately operate in crowded scenes despite heavy motion and obscuration and is revolutionizing the way in which surveillance is being performed globally.
Based on Artificial Intelligence, iOmniscient's range of intelligent video analysis software has been implemented at many sites around the world.
