Puretech protects Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport

Phoenix, Ariz (USA)

PureTech Systems has installed it's PureActiv wide area surveillance system at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. The installation of the system, enabled by a grant from the Minnesota department of public safety for homeland security, is intended to protect the perimeter of a fuel tank farm asset from potential threats and unwanted events.

The Metropolitan airports commission (MAC), which owns and operates seven airports in the metropolitan area of Minneapolis and St. Paul, down-selected three vendors and then conducted an extensive head-to-head competitive assessment using live scenarios designed to test the intelligent video analytic capabilities of each system. Scenarios were evaluated simultaneously on each system in both day and nighttime conditions. Each system was rated based on its ability to detect specific events and overall performance. According to the Commission, "The proposal from PureTech Systems met or exceeded the detailed requirements and ranked first in the evaluation criteria established by the RFP"

"We are delighted to have been chosen by MAC to protect its facilities. MAC's systematic selection process has helped insure that they will receive the level of protection desired and at the same time highlights the technology lead PureActiv has over competitive systems" says Larry Bowe, president of Puretech.

"We were seeking ways to use technology as a force multiplier; a means to more effectively utilize the security resources we have, more proactively identify possible threats, and share information more efficiently. The PureActiva solution has the functionality to help us achieve those goals," states commander Mike Everson, head of the airport police department's security division "The system allows us to set up virtual perimeters, monitor for specific situations, detect and classify individual threats, and then automates our security policies for alarm notification. It's always on, around the clock, twenty-four hours a day"
