PSIA attracts new members

Anaheim, California (USA)

The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance, a global consortium of physical security providers focused on promoting interoperability of IP-enabled devices in the security industry, announces that Arrowsight, AMT, Inc. and Cyber Group have joined the organization as associate members.

These three companies join nearly 50 member companies that work in conjunction to promote the interoperability of IP-enabled security devices across every sector of the industry including video surveillance, access control, storage and recording devices. With the support of its Board and its members, PSIA's mission is to develop standards and specifications that, when widely adopted, will reduce development costs for manufacturers, lead to ease of installation for integrators and enable end users to choose a best-in-breed solution regardless of brand.

"AMT has joined the PSIA to further our commitment to open, interoperable systems," said Gary Larson, president of AMT, Inc. "We believe this is critical to giving customers the power to choose, and for freeing solution providers to focus on end user needs rather than simply making
products communicate."

PSIA's 1.0 API Media Device specification, which has been reviewed by technical experts that represent all segments of the IP security market, enables interoperability between disparate products, expanding opportunities for companies that provide solutions to the physical security
marketplace.

"Many of our customers and prospects have been slow in making the transition to IP because of the compatibility issue. Our customers are demanding compatibility," said Bhopi Dhall, CEO of Cyber Group. "Our compliance with PSIA's specification in 2009 will accelerate the adoption of
our technology in the physical security marketplace as we don't have to wait to have a unique driver developed for each software platform to work with our CyGOS system."

"We enthusiastically welcome Arrowsight, AMT, Inc. and Cyber Group to our alliance," said David Bunzel, executive director of the PSIA. "These companies along with the rest of our membership are committed to the development of standards across all IP technology sectors and their involvement in our organization will only benefit our goal to help the market build interoperable solutions."
