Perhaps the days of the DVR are numbered...

Dietzenbach, Germany

Rimage and Seetec have introduced new automated video surveillance publishing and archiving solutions, further reducing the cost of storage.
With a growing number of digital surveillance cameras, increased image quality and complicated retention standards, organisations and companies are facing critical data management and archiving challenges. A convenient solution for increasing storage consumption is badly needed.

Ulrich Heißler, product manager at Seetec AG, says ”I am convinced the days of DVR are numbered. By partnering with Rimage, we are able to automate the process of exporting, distributing and archiving surveillance video content. We squarely address the critical content needs of our enterprise users: managing growing storage costs, longer retention periods and increased distribution needs of excerpts and parts of the recordings.“

Rimage has integrated its disc publishing solutions with the Seetec platform to solve these and other critical content distribution and long-term archiving issues. Rimage surveillance solutions for Seetec completely automate the process of exporting content for publishing and managing long-term archiving to evidentiary grade DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) media.

“Purging content or adding additional storage capacity on DVR or SAN either reduces retention time or increases costs. Therefore, these are not sustainable solutions. On the other hand, DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) media published by Rimage systems maintain or even extend retention time without adding storage capacity,” says Juergen Sattelmayer, Rimage’s Business Development Manager for EMEA.

Rimage’s high-quality, evidentiary-grade media enables users to securely and cost effectively distribute content as needed and to archive video data for extended periods or permanent storage.

Optical discs are a worldwide standard. They have a shelf life of up to 100 years and are durable, secure and portable. With Rimage’s direct-to-disc printing technology, users can print a summary of the contents on each disc along with any applicable metadata. This enables recipients to identify the contents without having to mount or insert the disc.
