Next Generation Number Plate Capture Camera

Cramlington, Northumberland (UK)

Derwent introduces REG-L1, the next generation of advanced performance number plate capture cameras from the REG family of products.

REG-L1 - featuring DHC-ImagingT technology - delivers superior performance number plate capture. REG-L1 is based on Derwent's industry leading technology, already in use in high-profile applications around the world. The new REG-L1 incorporates innovations in active-infrared, optics and advanced ambient rejection technology to deliver high-contrast number plate images.
REG-L1 captures number plates from vehicles moving at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour (~160 kilometers per hour) allowing for full motorway operation and other high-speed applications. Metaphase-LEDs and specialised lenses provide outstanding performance at distances from 3 to 25 meters (12 to 75 feet), giving some of the most comprehensive distance coverage available.
The demand for effective number plate capture is growing each year as users in security, ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) and law enforcement recognise that the key to a successful ANPR system is consistent, reliable front end capture.
The police rely on number plate data for key evidence in high-profile convictions. Transportation authorities use number plate data for traffic management in ITS applications. Security end users store, match and reference number plate data on digital video recorders and digital video management systems for proactive security and post-event analysis.
The technology incorporated into REG-L1 makes it one of the most effective, most versatile number plate capture cameras available in the market today. REG-L1 operates under any ambient lighting conditions, from total darkness to direct glare from sunlight and high-beam headlights. A new power management module enables the camera to be powered from a 12VDC or 24VAC source, making long-distance, low voltage number plate capture available for the first time
"Number plate capture provides an invaluable source of data for a wide range of applications across the globe," says Stephen Bell, Managing Director of Derwent Systems Ltd. "We are very excited about the launch of REG-L1; it is engineered for absolute performance and to capture the plate under seemingly impossible conditions."
