Prior to joining SC Johnson & Sons, Inc., Mr. Tyson led security programmes for PG&E, one of the largest power utilities in the USA. Mr. Tyson previously led global security operations for E-bay and served as the chief security officer for the host city of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

A frequent speaker at conferences and education events around the globe, Mr. Tyson authored “Security Convergence: Managing Enterprise Security Risk”, the first book on security convergence, and has published dozens of articles in security industry magazines.

Mr. Tyson holds a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) specialising in digital technology management. He is dual-certified in operational and cyber security, having earned his Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification from ASIS in 1996 and his Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential from (ISC)2.

A dedicated and longtime ASIS volunteer leader, Mr. Tyson’s service began in his local chapter in the late 1990’s. After fulfilling many roles in the Vancouver chapter, he went on to serve as Assistant Regional Vice President (ARVP) in Western Canada and later assumed leadership roles on the Professional Certification Board (PCB), the IT Security Council, and the Awards Council before his election to the ASIS Board of Directors in 2008. He has served successively as director, secretary, treasurer, and in 2014, president-elect. He will serve a one year term as president.
