New megapixel WDR camera from Hikvision

Hangzhou, China

Hikvision has released a 1.3 megapixel camera with wide dynamic range (WDR) technology, the DS-2CD864FWD-E. This box-type camera allows users to clearly identify a target and its surroundings regardless of extreme lighting contrast conditions - such as glazed storefronts or entrance halls.
Compared to conventional WDR cameras, Hikvision’s DS-2CD864FWD-E with top-notch WDR technology (120dB) – are positioned to better meet the growing market demand for high image quality. Equipped with powerful DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and the enhanced ISP (Image Signal Processing) algorithm, the product can well capture clear images in strong lighting contrast environments through megapixel resolution and true colour reproduction.

Incorporating excellent low light capability, the DS-2CD864FWD-E allows enhanced imaging performance in low light scenarios with minimum illumination of 0.6Lux @ F1.2 in colour mode and 0.08Lux @ F1.2 in B/W mode. In addition, 3D digital noise reduction and true day / night ensure excellent image quality regardless of time of day as well as a resolution of 1280x960.

Users in mission-critical environments will appreciate the onboard card storage (32Gb) since it means footage need not be lost if network fails. The camera supports ONVIF, PSIA and CGI protocols; PoE (Power over Ethernet) is supported as well.

Mr. Polo Cai, Vice President of Hikvision, said: “Whenever Hikvision develops a camera it is our aim to give users’ optimum control over the images as well as maximising the locations in which they can use the equipment. This new 1.3-megapixel WDR camera delivers optimum picture quality by minimizing smear and bloom as well as reproducing natural colours across harsh lighting situations.”
