New 4.9 GHz product from Fluidmesh

Boston, USA

Fluidmesh Networks presents its new 4.9 GHz version of the Fluidmesh 2200.

The U.S. Government issued rules to make the 4.9 GHz band usable only for public-safety and homeland security applications. This dedicated spectrum should be employed by municipalities and public safety agencies for the creation of temporary or permanent public safety networks. Public safety agencies are confident that this dedicated band can take advantage of the less crowded 4.9 GHz segment of the RF spectrum allowing more reliable transmissions.

The Fluidmesh 2200 series employs two radios, operating in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz range simultaneously. Fluidmesh Networks recently released a software upgrade which allows the system to operate at 4.9 GHz as well, without any hardware change. The 4.9 GHz version of the Fluidmesh 2200 will become the product of choice for every public-safety application in the U.S.

"Thanks to our innovative software radio technology, we have been able to develop a 4.9 GHz product requiring no hardware change" says Andrea Orioli, Fluidmesh networks marketing director - Employing the 4.9 GHz band is a great opportunity for municipal video applications that will take advantages of the inteference-free spctrum at 4.9 GHz." says Andrea Orioli, Fluidmesh networks marketing director.
