Major real estate firm selects Symmetry

New York, NY

Hudson Yards, the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States, has selected  the Symmetry Enterprise v7.0.1 card access control system to secure 10 Hudson Yards in New York City, the first office tower under construction.  Hudson Yards will ultimately include more than 17 million square feet of commercial and residential space when completed and be the largest development in New York City since Rockefeller Center.

Symmetry access control system will include card access readers, and will integrate with Genetec’s video management system, Building Intelligence’s visitor management system and Schindler elevators to provide destination dispatch. Symmetry software will act as the central management system for all these security functions, increasing efficiency and providing faster response to incidents.  Construction on the 52-storey building began in December 2012 and is scheduled for completion in 2015.

"We are proud to have been chosen as the access control provider for this ground breaking, prestigious real estate development project,” said Symmetry Regional Sales Manager, Bill Kotwicki.  "Symmetry’s robust feature set will control access and continuously monitor all activity in the busiest part of the building.  Integrating with Schindler elevators and Genetec video will optimize the efficiency of this state-of-the-art, security management system, securing its diverse population, unique assets and complex building requirements.”

The building will be designed to meet Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, (LEED) Gold-design standards, a green building certification that recognises best-in-class building strategies and practices.  As one of the first security companies to attain ISO 14001 accreditation, Symmetry is in compliance with green manufacturing standards.  The Symmetry access control integration with Schindler elevators assists with destination dispatch, which corrals people into specific elevators based on floor destination.  Destination dispatch helps preserve power usage, a key performance indicator for LEED.  Symmetry also assists in several other LEED categories too.

Coach, L’Oréal and SAP will occupy office space in the building, giving the building world-class fashion, technology and beauty brands, and a Fairway Market at ground level will bring a much-needed amenity to the neighborhood. The building will also include a 60-foot passageway that connects with the celebrated High Line Park and the public plaza.

Symmetry Enterprise is a comprehensive card access control and integrated security management system designed for larger organisations with the most complex security requirements.  At the heart of Symmetry Enterprise is an ability to manage access to buildings, process alarms from across the organisation, and to significantly improve the level of security by responding to incidents much more quickly and more effectively. This is achieved by integrating live and recorded video feeds, graphical building plans and other security technology into an extremely powerful and fully integrated solution.

Johnson Controls, Inc., the installing integrator on the project, designs and implements advanced security systems that deliver simplicity of operation, enhanced effectiveness and cost-effective protection.

Guidepost Solutions is the consultant company involved with the project. Guidepost Solutions provides an integrated suite of threat, risk and vulnerability assessments, project management and operational consulting services to help clients achieve the maximum level of security.
