ITV Granada has been equipped with future-proof CCTV

Lancashire, UK

ITV Granada has been equipped with a large future-proof CCTV installation by Delta Fire and Security Protection Ltd designed in conjunction with its main supplier ADI-Gardiner. Besides providing full connectivity to a network of new and existing CCTV cameras throughout the Manchester site, the project included linkage and remote operation for the two main Granada hi-tech security lodges.

"All the antiquated elements were removed and upgraded with the latest state-of-the-art technology from our preferred suppliers including Dedicated Micros, Dennard, BBV, NTV and Ikegami," explains Scott Jones, sales director, Delta "A Cat5 cable infrastructure was installed across the site providing a reliable solution for both static and fully functional cameras. Each operator now has the facility to access all the menus on any DVR across the system"

The project linked many separate systems into one which gave security staff multiplex viewing across the whole site and incorporated a range of new PTZ and Dome cameras. The infrastructure proposed by ADI-Gardiner was designed to accommodate a change from RS485 twisted pair telemetry to coaxial telemetry protocols.

"As well as the additional new technology we have also upgraded the existing CCTV in the better known areas of the complex including the Coronation Street set and the Glitterball Production Suite," says Jones "And of course the whole system has been designed to ensure that future expansion can easily be implemented with minimum fuss and disruption"

Following the success of the project, Delta has also secured the contract for the preventative maintenance for the company CCTV systems. "We have been delighted at the way Delta has handled this tricky project, they have provided us with a cost effective, highly efficient and professional service and I look forward to working with them on future projects," says Stuart Wynne, security and transport manager at Granada.
