Iomniscient releases book "Automated Surveillance"

Birmingham, UK

One of the biggest challenges facing the surveillance industry has been the lack of knowledge on the possibilities and limitations in the emerging field of video analysis. This book, "Automated Surveillance - A Guide to Intelligent Video Analysis", provides an insight into the benefits and usage of the new technology of video based intelligent surveillance.

Written by Dr Rustom Kanga and Ivy Li, the founders of iOmniscient Corporation, a leader in Intelligent Surveillance, and supported with major contributions from experts at Intel, Sun, EMC and several other companies who provided insights into their specialized areas such as on the management of image storage systems and on the use of different types of cameras and computing hardware, the book comprehensively explains the concepts of the technology in a way that provides the uninitiated reader with a clear understanding of its value to today's society.

In addition to explaining the technology behind image based analysis, the book discusses its use in various industry applications, each of which have specific requirements for their security systems. It explains how to analyze risk and how to assess the costs and benefits for a security project to ensure an effective purchasing process. Providing detailed guidelines on the practical aspects of implementation such as the correct placement of cameras as well as on the theory on how the technology works, the book constitutes the first comprehensive guide on this new art of Intelligent Surveillance.

"Automated Surveillance" was successfully launched at the IFSEC exhibition in the UK in May 2009 in hard cover and in CD form and the first consignment was completely sold out. A further print run is scheduled for this month.

The books are available from iOmniscient and from the various companies that constituted the Publishing Consortium. For further information, contact info@iomniscient.com.
