Honeywell makes $80M acquisition to integrate Burtek Systems with ADI

Louiseville, KY.(USA)

Honeywell acquires Burtek Systems Corp. and the Security Systems Division (SSD) from Richardson Electronics Ltd. for $80 million.

Burtek, with 2006 sales of $108 million and 200 branch offices in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, will be integrated with Honeywell's ADI security and low-voltage products distribution business, according to Security Sales & Integration Magazine.

Burtek, with headoffice in Vancouver, Canada, is a distributor of low-voltage products for commercial and residential audio, burglar and fire alarm, CCTV, access control and data communications.

ADI expects to begin working together with Burtek by summer when all regulatory approvals and filings have been completed, according to SSI.

"The acquisition of Burtek will enable us to reach new customers, particularly in Canada, where we see solid growth potential," says Tom Polson, president of Honeywell's ADI global distribution business "As we grow, we have the opportunity to be more efficient, broaden our product portfolio and enhance programs that directly benefit customers. The businesses complement each other - and both Burtek and ADI strongly emphasize customer service and solid vendor relationships"
