It features a heavy-duty steel construction, and is compliant with the ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 standard for exit devices. Grade 1 is the “gold standard” for rim-type exit devices such as push bars, and exit devices rated Grade 1 have been tested to operate for 500,000 door open cycles and able to withstand a minimum outside pull of 400 lbf (pound-force).
The SD-962AR-36G has a reversible non-handed design so it works on both right-swing and left-swing doors. It is suitable for metal or wood doors up to 1-3/4-inches thick. It can easily be cut in the field to fit doors from 33 inches to 48 inches wide.
The SD-962AR-36G also includes a separate deadlocking latch to prevent opening of the latch bolt by a credit card or similar means. It can be unlocked for an extended period of time by use of an included key.
