DVTel wins Security Innovation Award

Ridgefield Park, NJ

DVTel Inc., developers and suppliers of intelligent security solutions over IP networks, have announced that their City of Los Angeles advanced IP video installation received 1st Runner up in the 2006 Security Innovations Award, presented by Security Technology & Design magazine. DVTel is honored to share the award with the City of Los Angeles, represented by Gary Newton, Chief, Department of General Services, Office of Public Safety and Dwayne Healy, the former Security Administrator for the City.

Hosted annually by Security Technology & Design magazine, the Security Innovations Award honors the most innovative facility applications in the US. Winners had to display a unique collaborative project that met the needs of the end user with an integrated effort among vendors, systems integrators and the client. The 2006 Innovation Award winners were selected from nominations provided by security professionals, systems integrators & manufacturers. Judges for the competition came from the publication's editorial staff and its highly respected Editorial Advisory Board, comprised of top security directors and consultants from around the country.
"Our judges and staff were most impressed with the way DVTel and its partners handled this project from both a security and a business perspective. It was a huge and on-going undertaking that required a great deal of cooperation and professionalism," said Security Technology & Design veteran publisher/editor-in-chief, Steve Lasky.
DVTel President and CEO, on learning of the award said, "This was a highly integrated project and it is a great example of how the iSOC platform acts like the 'glue' in effectively pulling together the different systems and technologies to create maximum benefit for the end user."
DVTel in cooperation with the project consultant, the integrator, and other equipment providers created a solution that will eventually comprise more than 1000 cameras and that not only vastly improved security, but also provided a foundation for the City to consolidate all security functions and personnel into a single department, all working with one integrated system. In addition to DVTel, companies and organizations involved in the award-winning installation included the Los Angeles Office of Public Safety, RD Systems (project integrator), General Electric (Diamond II software), Redstone (Command and Control software), Pelco and Panasonic (cameras), and Sun Microsystems (digital tape library).
Lasky continued, "We looked for that special organization whose approach to security embodied the best examples of an enterprise-wide operation with an eye toward enterprise risk security management. The rapid pace of technology advancement has made collaboration and cooperation the cornerstones of any successful security project. Today's security end user is savvy and demanding. It takes a dedicated effort by both vendor and systems integrator to make sure all requirements are met and the customer is satisfied at every level. Which means the project, in almost every instance, must have an eye not only on securing the organization's people and tangible assets, but its information assets and business culture."
The coveted award is seen as one of the industry's most prestigious because its recipients are nominated by the security end user and top systems integrators. Two finalists and one winner were selected and honored at the annual ASIS conference in San Diego, CA.
