COE extends its X-Net fibre transmission range with ethernet and data services

Leeds, UK

COE Limited has extended the range of interface cards for its X-Net fibre and IP transmission system. This is used as the backbone transmission network in numerous video surveillance systems.

The X-Net Media card allows Users to interface IP LAN and WLAN equipment direct to fibre infrastructure for IP upgrade or first build system rollout. Any standard IP device may be connected to the X-Net Media Card including switches and routers thus enabling very cost effective LAN extensions for core networks. The X-Net Media Card is fully compatible with the full range of X-Net point-to-point and CWDM multipoint optics for flexible system design and large scale rollout.´

The X-Net Media card is complemented by the OPT4-ETH and OPT8-ETH multi-channel video modules that include an Ethernet 10/100BT port thus extending the interface options for hybrid and multi-functional fibre networks. Analogue video is still a very important feature of surveillance networks as it delivers very high quality video right to the monitor and is not affected by bit rates and PTZ control latency, issues often encountered in pure IP Ethernet networks. The OPT4-ETH and OPT8-ETH offer the best of both worlds as Ethernet enabled devices like sensors and alarm modules may be placed at the ends of the network along side the camera without the need for additional IP equipment or fibre thus saving costs and installation time.

The X-Net DataMux, X-Net Star and X-Net CC-16 card provide a host of serial data and contact closure interfaces commonly used in camera control, audio communication, alarm monitoring and sensor systems. All cards come with the usual high level of X-Net input/output protection and X-Net Network Management System interface for remote user access to system diagnostics screens.

Mark Marriage, CTO commented "The X-Net product range is at the core of some of the world's largest and most complex CCTV and Surveillance systems and these recent additions extend its features and options to match the increasingly complex network designs we are asked to provide. Analogue video still plays an important role in many surveillance systems and our approach allows hybrid mixed technology solutions to be built whilst offering the User the flexibility to migrate to an all-IP solution at a time of their choosing. For those customers wishing to roll out their own metropolitan networks these modules provide all the transmission services required for cameras, help points and other key street-side applications".

All X-Net interface cards are compatible with the X-Net NMS system that reports system functions and monitoring information to third party applications such as SNMP managers. Additionally the interface cards are compatible with X-Net CWDM optics enabling very large and redundant designs to be implemented with a host of interfaces for video, audio, data and alarm signals.

The X-Net transmission system offers the security and network system designer a comprehensive, managed and flexible network solution combining analogue, digital and IP Ethernet for all common video, data, audio and contact/alarm signal types. It is integrated into COE's X-Net VMS, NVR and VCA packages for overall user management of live and recorded video and COE offers SDK's for key elements for System Integration.
