This new Captec terminal is one such device and is suitable for use in a multitude of security applications, including access control, registration and authentication.

The casing is ruggedised for a tamperproof environment, yet ergonomic in design. Available in a small form factor, the device integrates a 3.5” touch-screen and a fingerprint reader. With flexible mounting options, it is capable of both wall and pattress mounting and can be custom branded for OEM applications.

The biometric terminal is capable of reliable Power over Ethernet (POE) for safety and low cost installation. Alternatively, it can be battery powered for mobile applications. Fully loaded and configured with Microsoft Windows embedded, any hosted application can communicate to a central server via Ethernet. Designed with a powerful low energy consumption ARM processor, the demands of the applications are balanced with the optimisation of thermal management and available power.
