AMG selected to supply CCTV transmission system for O2

Bedfordshire, UK

The world's first fibre optic transmission system that integrates ethernet & Data with high quality uncompressed video will help protect concert goers and sports fans.

AMG Systems Ltd. announces that it has been contracted by ADT, the UK provider of electronic fire and security solutions, to supply the CCTV transmission system as well as the fibre optic infrastructure installation for the integrated safety and security solution for The O2 (formerly the Millennium Dome), which is set to open in July this year as a world class entertainment destination.

AMG will supply their latest patented CCTV transmission technology Guardian-Lite 4700 for transmission of real time uncompressed video simultaneously allowing for viewing of DVR recorded and stored images on the built-in Ethernet channel.

The CCTV surveillance system for The O2 will initially use 237 cameras over half of which are Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ). The Guardian-Lite transmission system also carries data channels which will be used for sending individual instructions from the control room for repositioning or change focus for each individual camera.

"The O2 is one of the largest and most prestigious entertainment venue projects in the UK, and we're absolutely delighted to have been chosen to supply the CCTV transmission system. It is testament to how our new digital transmission technology not only provides real time uncompressed video directly to the control room, it also eliminates the need for separate IP, voice or data networks, which in turn allows for minimizing the investment in infrastructure." says Alan Hayes, AMG's founder and managing director.

"The integrated safety and security solution for The O2, which ADT has been contracted for, includes the installation of CCTV, access control, fire detection and public address/voice alarm (PA/VA) systems. The simplicity of AMG's transmission system means that it is very easy to work with the integrated Ethernet and data channels provided in the units, which is important for a project involving CCTV on this scale," says Tony Harris, ADT UK & Ireland manager director. "We have the ability to meet the very challenging demands of this development and proven experience in providing integrated systems using the latest technology at major public venues in the UK."

The O2 is a multi-Million pound development, the centrepiece of which will be an indoor arena for up to 23,000 fans that will host at least 150 music, entertainment and sports events in its first year. Within the facility there will be a music club, cinema multiplex and exhibition space, as well as bars and restaurants in a vibrant 'entertainment district' wrapped around the arena under the roof. The O2 is an official venue for the 2012 Olympics, hosting both the gymnastic and basketball finals.
