AFI switches provide flexible solution

Somerset, NJ

The American Fibertek SM8P-SFP managed switch series provides the flexibility needed to seamlessly integrate any edge device or appliance to a network – all with the speed, bandwidth and distance advantages that a fibre optic infrastructure delivers.

The SM8P-SFP managed switch series allows the user to interchange devices on a port-by-port basis via two dual-speed SFP/RJ-45 combo ports, and six 100/1000BASE-X SFP ports.

And for added versatility, the SM8P-SFP’s SFP ports are compatible with copper or fibre optic devices, and the fibre ports can be single fibre or dual fibre in either multi or single mode.

To monitor, configure and control each port’s activity, the SM8P-SFP can be managed either locally or remotely using a user-friendly menu. The units also offer numerous features that are ideal for both metropolitan area networks (MAN) and corporate LAN deployments.

Other additional features include,  6 x 100/1000BASE-X SFP ports, and two of these ports are 10/100/1000Base-T / SFP combo ports, an RJ-45 port also supports the Auto MDI/MDI-X function.  The switch includes store-and-forward switching architecture and a jumbo frame size up to 9KB, plus there is a Port based VLAN, a Port trunk with LACP support LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) and an Access Control List (ACL) feature.  Login access is protected with TACACS+ and SSH/SSL security and the system can be managed via the web. Firmware can therefore be easily upgraded on-line and the system configuration restore and backup facilities can be performed via a Web GUI.
