AFI midspans now certified for use with Axis cameras

Nyack, NY

American Fibertek AFI Series of 3-port and 4-port PoE mini-switches, also known as fibre optic PoE midspan devices, are now certified by Axis for use with the company's Q60XX-e Series (Q6032-e, Q 6034-e, and Q6035-e) outdoor PTZ cameras.
The AFI PoE mini-switches deliver the required 60 watts of power over the Ethernet copper cable to Axis PTZ cameras and their integral heater/blower mechanisms, and provide extended transmission distances over the fibre optic cable.

The system is comprised of two transceivers forming a point-to-point communications link. It transmits and receives 2 copper 10/100 Base-T or Gigabit Ethernet signals via RJ45 ports, and 1 or 2 optical 10/100 Base-FX or Gigabit signals via 1 or 2 multimode or single mode fibres. It includes a drop and insert configuration feature which is available with the 4-port PoE mini-switches. There is an extended temperature operating range from -40C to +75C. In addition AFI markets the system as exceeding the power requirements supported by the IEEE 802.3af (15 watt) or 802.3at (30 watt) PoE standards to operate the camera and heater/blower accessories.
