California, U.S.A

ACTi, developer of MPEG-4 IP surveillance solutions, and Ortega InfoSystems Inc., provider of video management software (VMS), have empowered many video surveillance systems at police departments throughout California, USA. Together ACTi and Ortega InfoSystems provide comprehensive video security hardware and software solutions.

ACTi provides a full line of MPEG-4 ASP compliant IP cameras, video encoders, decoders, and transcoders. Ortega's flagship software, VideoSmart, is a Video Management System (VMS) that provides comprehensive centralized managements of disparate video subsystems (analog/IP cameras, encoders/decoders, DVRs, matrix switches, etc.) througha web-based interface. VideoSmart has been designed to fully integrate with all ACTi equipment, and together, they offer a comprehensive IP video security solution in the market.

At Woodlake Police Department, the video surveillance solution manages video security at the headquarters and a nearby work yard. ACTi provides MPEG-4 IP video cameras (CAM-5101, CAM-7100, and CAM-7101) while Ortega provides the VideoSmart Video Management Software (VMS). This surveillance installation takes advantage of power over Ethernet to minimize cabling installations and includes a wireless segment, making it a modern surveillance system.

Exeter Police Department uses its video surveillance system to manage video security at the police headquarters along with the city hall and a nearby water tower. ACTi provides MPEG-4 IP cameras (CAM-5120, CAM-5200, and CAM-7100) while Ortega provides the VideoSmart VMS to provide centralized management on a web-based interface.

At another police department, ACTi and Ortega products work together to provide a video surveillance system that manages both existing analog cameras with the new ACTi MPEG-4 IP cameras. Based on ACTi PCI-4100 the VideoSmart VMS manages these IP cameras along with 11 existing analog cameras seamlessly through one centralized intuitive interface. This system also replaced an old matrix switch and a set of old analog monitors with modern plasma displays that can show crisp clear video from all the cameras.
