Assa Abloy joins technological circularity programme

Stockholm, Sweden

Assa Abloy is an official partner in the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program, which started in November 2024 with the aim of bringing the Nordic construction industry together to explore how circular business solutions can be implemented in technical building equipment.

In collaboration with Tampereen Tilapalvelut, a construction project and maintenance in-house company owned by the City of Tampere, Finland, the company is testing circularity in practice by refurbishing Abloy products and optimising the reuse process.

In the second pilot project, which focuses on the reuse of access systems, Assa Abloy is working together with security solutions company Certego to explore customer needs and distribution models when building a scalable business model for circular products.

“We are excited to be a part of this collaboration to show how we can introduce more circular solutions for technical building equipment,” says Anders Forslind, Head of Product Sustainability for Assa Abloy. “By working on these initiatives together with the customers we can move closer to a circular economy in the building industry.”

The programme has brought together the Nordic construction industry to share knowledge and present case studies. The official programme partners are Assa Abloy, Cradlenet, Demontera, Kone, Multiconsult, nolla E, Skanska, Swegon, and Vasakronan.

Once the pilots have been carried out, the programme will culminate in open review sessions and a final event in 2026, sharing findings, best practices, and policy recommendations with the broader industry and public stakeholders.

The Nordic Circularity Piloting Program is led and coordinated by Combient Pure and co-financed and supported by Nordic Innovation. Combient Pure was established to accelerate circular solutions in the Combient Group, which brings together 38 leading companies in the Nordics to collaborate across industries.

The Nordic Circularity Piloting Program

The Nordic Circularity Piloting Program is designed to fast-track the development and implementation of circular solutions in the Nordic building sector. The Program is seeking pilots in real building projects, where manufacturing companies, end customers and other related stakeholders showcase a circular product or service during fall 2025. The circular activities to be piloted can be e.g. dismantling, take-back schemes, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacturing or product-as-a-service, and pilots can take place in Finland, Sweden, Norway, or Denmark.
