TagMaster selected as RFID supplier for DLR project in UK

Stockholm, Sweden

TagMaster, the Swedish developer of advanced RFID solutions, has been selected by Bombardier Transportation to provide an innovative solution for trains on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in London.

TagMaster heavy duty RFID readers are being supplied to Bombardier in Germany where new trains for DLR are being produced. The RFID equipment is used to provide the functionality for selective door opening (SDO). The SDO system is used to ensure that only selected doors on the trains are opened at specific platforms on the DLR. This functionality is required as part of the expansion of the DLR network and the increased capacity required during the London 2012 Games.

The SDO functionality is yet another innovative application for TagMaster's RFID technology within its transportation business. With its design specification and proven track-record in tough railway environments, the HD reader was selected by Bombardier as the technology for the DLR project. This new order is in addition to the existing contracts for HD readers that TagMaster has with Bombardier for advanced RFID solutions.

"We are very pleased that Bombardier has again selected TagMaster as the RFID solution for this project. New applications within light-rail continue to develop and this SDO project is one we believe will lead to further business over the coming years. With this new order, we have again shown our ability to supply high performance RFID products to key players within the railway industry" says Anders Holmlund, CEO, TagMaster AB.
