Rubens has been involved in the UK security sector since 1992, being one of the original security trainers in the earliest days of the Westminster Council Door Supervisor training programme. He ran his own consultancy from 1992-2013, under the names of Meido Consultants and David Rubens Associates, and was from December 2013 until recently MD of Infrasafe Security International, the international division of Infrasafe, a major US security technology company. He has also been involved in the academic side of security and risk management, completing his MSc at Scarman Centre, Leicester University in 2006. He has consequently taught on a range of security related programmes at Leicester, Cranfield and the University of Portsmouth, where he studied for his Professional Doctorate, writing his thesis on strategic management of hyper-complex crisis events.

Commenting on his appointment Rubens said "I am really looking forward to returning to the board having served in the past. The Institute continues to be a leading voice in the promotion of the sector and the desire to increase the professionalisation of security practitioners. As someone who has experienced and benefitted from the academic side of security and risk management this is something I believe passionately in."

Following careers in defence electronics and local government White joined the security industry in 2000 working on the South Coast managing a portfolio of accounts that included security provision to public sector, private sector and military locations. In 2003 he moved to London and has worked across multiple industry sectors that include shopping centres, diplomatic buildings, the financial sector, blue chip businesses and elements of the UK critical national infrastructure. He now works for himself as an independent security, risk management and training consultant. White recently completed his permitted term as the Chairman of the International Professional Security Association (IPSA) and is also a member of ASIS UK, The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals and the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Commenting on his appointment White said "I have been a very active member of the Events Committee at the Security Institute for a couple of years and have represented them on the Security Regulatory Alliance. I know Board members and staff at HQ very well so feel I will quickly be able to become an effective part of the team."
