New generation biometric fingerprint reader

Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK

A UK company has announced the launch of what they believe to be the next generation of biometric reader for use in access systems which they claim will change the perception of biometric technology worldwide. I-Evo is the result of several years of research and eighteen months of development. The reader incorporates the latest robust components and biometric fingerprint technology systems and has come about as the result of close consultation with end users, installers and integrators.
The I-Evo system integrates with existing card or fob access systems and has been designed to ‘work out of the box’, requiring basic electrical installation skills and minimal maintenance. Among the innovations of the I-Evo system is an internal heater that activates when the temperature drops to eight degrees, meaning the unit can operate to a minimum of minus twenty degrees Celsius.

The I-Evo reader can be manufactured in any colour the end user requires, making it the first biometric reader to appeal to designers and architects. It is totally waterproof and vandal resistant; and can be flush or surface mounted to any interior or exterior surface.

I-Evo Director Shaun Oakes says: “The biometric security sector has suffered over the past ten years from early adoption of technology that was not quite fit for purpose, meaning high installation and maintenance costs. This has been the case in Europe, the USA and Asia with the result of Biometric Technology not being trusted one hundred percent worldwide. Some years ago we took the decision to commit resources to research with end-users, then to perfect the technology required to put their faith back into biometrics. It has been a long road but the end result is a low cost biometric reader with aesthetic appeal, reliability and ease of installation. We believe the I-Evo is a world first in this regard”.

The I-Evo system is a finger print system with a difference, it will scan your finger print through levels of dust, dirt, water, grease, oil, creams and even some latex gloves. The product is being rolled out in the UK over the coming months with overseas agents appointed later in the year. According to the company Installers, security consultants and electrical wholesalers that have adopted the I-Evo reader have been impressed at the capabilities of this reader.
