Navtech Radar to speak at Intertraffic in Amsterdam

Oxfordshire, UK

Co-founder and Business Development Director, Dr. Stephen Clark of world leading radar developer and manufacturer of high performance incident detections solutions for the transport sector, will be presenting at the seminar programme at the Intertraffic show in Amsterdam, March 23-26 2010.

According to Dr. Clark, "Radar incident detection solutions have proved themselves through a number of trials conducted by the UK Highways Agency. I am particularly pleased to have this opportunity to present some of the result achieved. At Navtech Radar we're working hard on automatic radar incident detection systems and we know that operators will typically want to know - in real time - if an 'incident' occurs. This might include a slow moving vehicle, stopped vehicles, reversing vehicles, pedestrians or debris. Radar automatic incident detection provide exceptionally low false alarm rate. Individual radar have longer detection ranges per device and so caters to fewer sensors and lower install cost; low maintenance; Radar is further unaffected by fog, bright sunlight or general dust and grime; will continue to detect vehicles and people though smoke in the event that there is an incident in a tunnel for example, which could be invaluable to emergency services".

The topic of Dr. Clark's presentation is Scanning Radar for Hard Shoulder Running and Automatic Incident Detection, and will include an overview of the company's innovative ClearWay scanning radar technology and details of areas where radars are currently in use.

Dr. Clark says, "The presentation will include videos and photographs from current deployed systems. With particular focus on ITS applications we will present and discuss the deployment and trial on the M42 in the UK as part of the hard shoulder running project as well as the system usage within tunnels as an incident detection system. Details of what this exciting technology can offer in terms of detection performance and cost benefits will also be covered".

The Intertraffic show has specifically been chosen by Navtech Radar for a wider market launch of their sophisticated ClearWay Incident Detection Solutions hence, this is the first time that the company will be showcasing their technology to an international audience.

This year's show is the 20th edition of Intertraffic Amsterdam. Over 800 exhibitors from more than 40 countries - with virtually the entire top 50 global concerns in attendance - will show a comprehensive overview of the latest industry trends and developments with focus on areas such as infrastructure, ITS traffic management, safety and parking, Environment and Cooperative Systems. In 2008 Intertraffic attracted more then 23,000 visitors, 56 % of which came from outside the Netherlands a growth of 62% from the 2006 show. So expectations are high for this years show.

Dr. Clark's presentation will take place Wednesday 24 March 15:15 - 16:00 in the seminar rooms in Hall 9.
