Latest Genie security cameras incorporate Pixim Seawolf

Welwyn Garden City, Herts

Genie CCTV Ltd, has introduced a new series of CCTV cameras using Pixim Seawolf chip technology and will be announcing more models to follow soon.
With Seawolf technology Genie now offers its customers security cameras with an effective 690 HTVL resolution and the industry’s most powerful wide dynamic range. In addition, Genie Seawolf security cameras require just 0.1 lux of illumination to produce usable, colour images.

The new HTVL Effective specification on Genie Pixim Seawolf security cameras offers two major benefits over existing CCTV resolution standards. For the first time, consultants, integrators, distributors and security end-users are able to compare the actual, useable resolution of security cameras using different image sensor technologies; whether they are progressive scan or interlaced.

Secondly we finally have a specification which takes into consideration the total captured resolution; both horizontal and vertical TV lines. Prior to this new specification the critical contribution of vertical TV lines to high resolution CCTV video has been ignored despite video monitors and DVRs commonly used in millions of CCTV installations fully supporting enhanced vertical TV line resolutions.

Binit Shah, Genie’s Marketing Manager says: "The new range featuring Pixim’s Seawolf digital pixel system allows our customers to get the highest quality wide dynamic range and the best images, in low and extreme lighting conditions, from the same security camera. These latest Genie cameras are packed with innovative new features to assist the installer”.

Pixim Inc. has developed unique imaging technology that revolutionises the way video cameras capture and process images. Unlike traditional image capture technologies, where each pixel cannot adjust to highlights and lowlights in the same scene, Pixim's patented digital pixel system technology empowers hundreds of thousands of pixels to act like individual cameras constantly self-adjusting. This all-digital system enables Pixim-powered security cameras to efficiently capture the whole picture, regardless of lighting condition or application - thus securing the highest resolution, natural colour and clarity, while automatically eliminating image-compromising visual noise (e.g., glare, reflections). The result is more than superb image quality; it is accurate, actionable information that gives users the strength of certainty. The latest addition to the Pixim imaging chip option is the revolutionary Seawolf single board solution offering a full 690 HTVL Effective resolution.

David Beech, Channel Development Director for EMEA at Pixim, says: "Genie has previously brought many Pixim-powered security cameras to market with great success. We’re excited to be able to offer this technology leader the industry’s first single-chip video camera solution. Seawolf’s capabilities will make it the right choice for Genie as the company continues to aggressively expand its CCTV and IP camera offerings, with the best possible blend of crisp clear true colour images, and with our 690 HTVL effective resolution superb high quality recordings"
