Kent windmills preservation project includes Kentec fire protection

Kent, UK

Following a successful Lottery Fund bid a sensitive repair programme was undertaken to improve the Kent County Council windmills, including the design and installation of a fire protection system for each mill.
For centuries windmills have been landmarks on the Kent landscape with once over 400 operating throughout the county. Kent County Council owns and is responsible for the preservation and maintenance of eight remaining mills that are an important historically significant feature of the Kent countryside.

A hybrid system based around Kentec Syncro AS Lite (single loop) alarm panels was chosen by radio systems specialist CTA Fire Detection to solve the problem of installing a fire detection system within such unique listed structures. The system is supported by Argus Vega protocol communications with Argus devices including translator modules, intelligent wireless optical detectors, wireless heat detectors, wireless base sounder beacons, and wireless manual call points.

CTA Fire Detection said, 'With its exceptional performance, reliability and seamless integration to a system of mixed devices Kentec's Syncro was the obvious choice.'
