The Corona virus threat: ISC West and Ifsec will take place as planned

Las Vegas, Nv (USA)

ISC West and Ifsec (the image from 2016) will take place in London according to plan.

The ISC West show in March and Ifsec International in May are fast approaching and with the ever increasing risk posed by the spreading of the Covid 19 Corona virus some exhibitors have pulled out and statements have been issued by the ISC West team, the organisers – Reed Exhibitions, and the venue – Sand Expo in Las Vegas, confirming that additional measures are being taken according to official health guidelines and that so far the event will still take place as planned. Similar announcements have been made by the Ifsec organisers.

ISC West in Las Vegas will occur as scheduled 17th through 20th of March 2020. On February 27th, 2020, Reed Exhibitions said, "Reed Exhibitions is actively and continuously monitoring the COVID-19 virus outbreak in line with local, state and federal authorities and public health advice, including that of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Our policies reflect the travel restrictions and guidelines of the United States government.

Please note that our events in the United States are taking place as scheduled and our status with regard to the COVID19 virus remains unchanged: the health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and staff is our number one priority." They also said, "If you have any concerns that you may get caught up in an inbound or outbound quarantine, or are feeling unwell, you may want to reconsider your attendance at the event. We are following local, state and federal public health advice closely."

Subsequently, the following day, ISC West issued a statement on 28th February, saying that the exhibition will be going ahead as scheduled March 17th through 20th, 2020. "We take pride in offering vital business opportunities to our customers, including networking, education and access to new products and technologies and are working diligently to ensure ISC West 2020 and our other events live up to our high standards. While we regret that some companies have made the decision not to take part in ISC West 2020, we are focused on making ISC West 2020 a successful, safe and enjoyable event for all attendees and exhibitors."

The statement continues, " Over the last few weeks, Reed Exhibitions and our partners in ISC West have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 virus and its impact on members of the global security community. We are collaborating closely with the Sands Expo Center and local public health authorities and following local, state and federal public health guidelines, including those issued by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. We have additional precautionary measures in place, including enhanced cleaning and sanitisation across all public areas and customer touchpoints in the show and we are constantly reviewing our health protection activities, public health messaging, hygiene and medical control measures with the aim of strengthening our COVID-19 response further in line with up to date public health advice and guidance, including that of the CDC."

The venue Sands Expo has released a similar statement, in which they say, "The health and safety of our team members and guests is our utmost priority. Our Emergency Management Team works closely with local officials and we are taking appropriate steps to protect our team members and guests as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD). We are prepared to follow any additional protocols or guidance, as they are made available by the CDC or SNHD.

The Ifsec International Exhibition – due to take place in London, UK from 17th to the 21st of May – is taking similar steps and has also issued an official statement regarding the Covid 19 virus, saying that they are following all safety advice and precautions as recommended by the NHS, as well as the World Health Organisation (WHO). They are reassuring customers that whilst they are monitoring the situation on an international business, and staying up to date on official sources of updates and guidance from the government and authorities, for now it is entirely business as usual for the event.
