Indigovision protects aluminium plant

Jharsuguda, India

The latest dome and camera surveillance solutions from Indigovision are securing a major aluminium production plant in Jharsuguda, India.

Listed on the FTSE 100, Vedanta Resources Plc is a global diversified metal and mining company and is one of the largest aluminium production companies in India.

Vedanta Resource’s 1.7 million tonne aluminium smelter in Jharsuguda is powered by a dedicated captive power plant. With aluminium being the second most widely used metal after steel, and demand set to increase over the next 10 years, it was necessary to minimise the security risk to power generation for the smelter. The 75 sq.km plant required a new, state of the art security system.

Indigovision’s enhanced HD domes and fixed cameras now monitor the plant’s store rooms and entry/exit gates, providing surveillance throughout the plant. Video is transmitted back to the control room, where Indigovision’s Control Center video management software gives total visibility of the site. According to the company, staff have been impressed by how user-friendly the software is, and how easy it is to track vehicles from the moment they enter the site, until the moment they leave.
