First ever Vds international conference announced

The internationally recognised test institute Vds Schadenverhütung is inviting security experts from all over Europe to attend, Security, its first ever international conference, where they will have an opportunity to exchange views and information on developments in the industry and to discuss the latest trends and technologies.

At the same time, VdS will be presenting the current status of EU standardisation activities and ensuring that the meeting makes a contribution to the international harmonisation of security standards. The two-day conference will be held in Cologne on November 30 and December 1, 2006.
Internationalisation and globalisation are also gaining an ever stronger foothold in the fields of loss prevention, safety and security systems. This involves products, systems, planning and installation in addition to standards and test procedures. In response to these trends, VdS is organising its first-ever get-together for the industry this year: a conference entitled "Security".
As VdS managing director Hans Schüngel explains: "In addition to our traditional and highly successful national conference, we have expanded our concept and now want to provide international specialists with a platform for the exchange of views and information. Security knows no frontiers and nowadays, more than ever before, has to be seen in an international context. We aim to play our part in the establishment of international standards."
The programme for the two-day event in Cologne is geared to producers, planners and installers of safety and security systems; corporate safety and security managers; and representatives of safety and security authorities, service providers and insurance companies. Among other things, the planned discussions and information sessions will focus on the present international status of security resources and applications as well as the ongoing work on the corresponding guidelines and standards.
