Commercial solution for issuing identity credentials released

Lenel Systems International Inc. has released the IdentityDefender, a commercial, off the shelf solution for issuing identity credentials to trusted individuals using a secure process.

IdentityDefender fulfills the federal requirements of FIPS 201 and HSPD-12, which establish a universal identification standard for U.S. government employees and contractors to provide access to both physical and logical resources.
The flexibility of IdentityDefender's modular design permits organizations to implement either the full end-to-end solution or individual components, as needs dictate.
Component modules will integrate seamlessly into the organization's current infrastructure to maximize its technology investments. Once an identity credential has been issued, IdentityDefender manages the life cycle of the credential for the existing physical and logical security systems.

Lenel is included on the General Services Administration (GSA) Approved Product List for FIPS 201, identifying the company as a certified supplier to government organizations seeking to implement FIPS 201 compliant solutions. Most federal agencies are required to issue secure credentials to all civilian federal workers and contractors by Oct. 27, 2008.
