CBC latest VIMS IP management system draws interest

London, UK

Surveillance solutions provider CBC (Europe) enjoyed strong interest from Ifsec visitors who came to view the latest Ganz Solutions VIMS IP video and alarm management system on their stand.
This one-box plug-and-play IP solution is modular and scalable, with an independent open-architecture platform that addresses real security and business issues.

“We’ve been absolutely delighted with the reception that VIMS has received,” declares Santosh Muniswamappa, CBC’s Commercial Head – IP Surveillance Solutions. “We spent four very busy days explaining the multiple operational benefits that VIMS offers to a wide range of users – from the corner shop, to multi-site locations.”

Santosh explains that the VIMS Suite can be used in ‘enterprise class’ applications through its Command product, or smaller scale surveillance systems via the Accendo one-box plug-and-play IP unit – for viewing, recording and management of up to 16 IP video channels. Some of the core features to both Command and Accendo include broadcast quality video, low bandwidth transmission of video, a 24/7 rated server and storage units, and a simple easy-to-use remote web-based user interface.

VIMS Accendo proves that IP video systems don’t have to be complex by offering small to medium business users a cost-effective way to use next-generation surveillance technology. Meanwhile, for larger system requirements, including those spread over more than one site, VIMS Command provides scalable facilities.

“The VIMS platform is an end-to-end integrated media and security management solution,” Santosh adds. “By treating each feed as a device, we can select, view, command and control an unlimited number of device feeds – for example analogue or IP cameras, DVRs, intercoms and audio, intruder alarms, remote PC systems and a variety of other inputs including fire alarms and access control. These feeds can be local or remote; all we need is connectivity to use and manage them. The net result is coordinated and instant emergency response when and where it’s really needed.”

VIMS enables surveillance users/managers to effectively control their systems with up to hundreds of NVR channels and flexible storage capabilities scalable up to 36Tb on each NVR for the very largest of site monitoring requirements. The VIMS Command software enables integration with most PC-based platforms, centralising the control room operators’ workload into a single platform using Remote Desktop tools. Legacy integration of analogue systems is also supported.

VIMS Command also provides an add-on module of Ganz software analytics to supplement encoder and camera-based analytics ‘at the edge’, while an optional SCADA module offers the opportunity for plant and system monitoring, eg in mission-critical applications. Meantime, VIMS Command Wall provides an IP video wall for control room, digital signage and remote viewing applications, while the VIMS Archive feature comprises a video footage player offering up to nine simultaneous playback feeds and concurrent exports to DVD, Windows media or native format.
