The flat faceplate and lens allow easy cleaning as well as flush ceiling mounting. Flush mounting and a choice of 16 color inserts for white or transparent faceplates ensure virtual invisibility - important for the aesthetics of interior design. Dual optical sensors and a pollution sensor achieve an exceptionally high level of reliability.
The 500 Series conventional version is available in four models. All of them operate with two optical (smoke) sensors and two with optical and CO sensors. The CO sensor model primarily detects carbon monoxide produced by a fire, but it can also detect the presence of hydrogen and nitrogen monoxide. All sensor signals are continually analyzed by the built-in signal evaluation electronics and interlinked through algorithms. Linking the optical and CO sensors means that an alarm will only be triggered if the signal combination corresponds with the detector's characteristic diagram. This ensures minimal occurrence of false alarms as well as expanding the number of application possibilities, for instance in dusty environments.
Contamination build-up from dirt and dust is automatically monitored by the pollution sensor. The threshold value of the detector is automatically adapted according to the level of contamination build-up. If the build-up reaches a level where it completely obstructs the lens, a signal is sent to the control panel and simple cleaning action can be taken. Moreover, an anti-masking sensor will send a signal to the fire alarm control panel if the detector becomes covered.
The Smoke detector 500 Series has reached international recognition for its innovative technology, accumulating until now eight awards, and has recently received in the U.S. the SIA´s (Security Industry Association) "Product Achievement Award".
