Axis products celebrate a year of awards

Lund, Sweden

Axis Communications, a global leader in network video, is celebrating a year full of award successes across a range of industries.

Throughout 2014, Axis has won three awards and been shortlisted or highly commended for a further two. Specifically, it has been decorated with  industry accolades within the Ifsec Security Excellence Awards for the Security project of the Year - Boston Networks award in conjunction with Axis; the PSI Premier Awards for the CCTV Product of the Year with the Axis P5414-E PTZ dome; the Detektor International Awards for the Best access control product with the Axis A1001, and a highly commended commended award also in the Detektor International Awards for Best CCTV product with the AXIS Q1615.  The company was also shortlisted in the UK Rail Industry Awards for the Rail Asset Security Award.

Commenting on the award successes, Atul Rajput, regional director, northern Europe at Axis Communications, said: "It’s been another strong year for the northern European team; we’ve once again shown that the work we are doing is continuing to push boundaries and set new standards within the industry.

"We continue to dominate the security sector but through our constant investment into new technologies, we are now making real headway and having a noticeable success across new markets, such as access control.

"All these award wins and shortlists are testament to the extent to which we produce fantastic results for clients when we work closely with our trusted partners – an approach that we intend to build upon next year.”

Axis, along with its partner Boston Networks, was awarded the ‘Security Project of the Year’ accolade from Ifsec Global at its 2014 Security Excellence Awards, recognised as the 'Oscars' for both the security and fire business sectors.

Axis and Boston Networks won the award for the installation at the University of the West of Scotland, one of Scotland’s largest universities. Together they designed and implemented a high performing IP-based surveillance solution, featuring HD-quality footage and a powerful video management interface across the university’s multi-campus estate. The state-of-the-art solution combined over 200 Axis network cameras and Milestone XProtect Expert open platform IP VMS software.

The Axis P5414-E PTZ dome network camera was crowned ‘CCTV Product of the Year’ at PSI Premier Awards, as voted for by UK installers. In the same year that the camera was also awarded the highly prestigious, international Red Dot Design Award for its innovative new design, the camera took the top spot and was noted for its hardware innovations and it unsurpassed mechanical endurance.

Axis was also awarded ‘Best Product’ for its AXIS A1001 network door controller at the Detektor International Awards. The judges noted that the AXIS A1001 was, "the very first non-proprietary open IP-based access controller on the market,” and that Axis had "become the driving force for open technology in a cross section of markets.” They also remarked that the product was, "undoubtedly the access control product of the year.”

Axis cameras were also recognised this year, with the Axis Q1615 network camera receiving a ‘highly commended’ recommendation in the CCTV category by the Detektor International Awards’ judges.

Further success came when Axis was shortlisted for the ‘Rail Asset Security’ award at the UK rail Industry Awards. Axis was noted to have developed cameras which produce HDTV-quality footage to help identify and prosecute offenders guilty of vandalism, metal theft, ticket fraud, track trespassing and unauthorised access.
