Securitas embarks on AI deployment pilot to improve efficiencies

Stockholm, Sweden

AI is helping Securitas plan smarter – improving efficiency, reducing travel time, and delivering a more streamlined experience for both clients and officers.

Across several European countries, Securitas is now harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to improve how it deploys security officers and plans day-to-day operations. Specialised branch and commute optimisation initiatives are helping the company work smarter, faster, more efficiently, and sustainably.

Ultimately, according to the company, the goal is to deliver a better overall experience for both clients and officers. And it seems it is already making an impact.

Improving officer commutes

One of the key areas of improvement is commute optimisation – leveraging AI to map out better routes and reduce the distance between officers and the sites they serve. By matching officer home locations, work preferences, skill sets, and site requirements, helps shorten commutes, streamline scheduling, and strengthen the alignment between officer expertise and client needs.

“Commute optimisation is really focused on the individual,” says Jonas Florvik, VP of Intelligent Services. “We want officers to work as close as possible to where they live and match the right skills for the right site. That makes their day easier, and the client experience better.”

In early pilots across France and Germany, Securitas is already seeing promising results, with the potential to reduce daily commuting distances by 44% – a win for officer well-being, operational efficiency, and sustainability.

Optimising client coverage

AI is also helping optimise other operations within the business, including how well its branch network covers its service areas. By analysing data like branch size, travel distances, and client distribution, the company can ensure the right resources are available where and when they’re needed, while reducing response time.

In Germany alone, Securitas claims this has led to a 10% average reduction in driving time to client sites, supporting both efficiency and sustainability goals.

And while AI plays an important role in identifying optimised routes and coverage models, it is the local teams who bring those models to life. By combining AI-powered insights with on-the-ground knowledge and expertise, the company can now tailor smarter staffing decisions to the real-world needs of its clients.

Laying the groundwork for smarter planning

According to Securitas, these are just two example of how the business is leveraging AI to optimise operations and maximize value for clients. As Securitas continues to scale these efforts across Europe and beyond, the goal is to build a stronger foundation for smarter planning and improved service delivery for its clients.
