Suprema debuts Biosign 2.0 in Barcelona and Vegas

Seoul, Korea

Suprema will be showcasing Bio-Sign 2.0, a game-changing mobile fingerprint authentication algorithm featuring what is hailed as the world’s fastest matching speed at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry held in the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, Spain, on 27 February - 2 March 2017.

According to the company, its latest artificial intelligence technology, means that the new Bio-Sign 2.0 algorithm yields matching speeds of up to twice as fast as the best competitor’s solution while far outpacing competitors in terms of accuracy(FRR) and level of security(FAR). Moreover, Bio-Sign 2.0 offers enhanced robustness over time and extra flexibility in integration by supporting various types and sizes of sensors.

Bio-Sign 2.0 is designed to produce best performance even with low-end application processors(AP), therefore it will take the essential role for low-cost smartphones to adopt fingerprint authentications. Bio-Sign 2.0 performs a matching speed of 50ms with high-end APs and 100ms with low-end APs while maintaining security level(FAR) under 0.0005%.

When it comes to fingerprint authentication in smartphones, due to changes in scanning habits and skin condition, current technology often results in poorer performance with use over time. Powered by a self-learning mechanism on its algorithm, Bio-Sign 2.0 gets smarter with use. Bio-Sign 2.0 learns the user’s habit and conditions continuously, the algorithm self-evolves to cope with such change and results even better accuracy with use over time.

On the integration side, Bio-Sign 2.0 allows extra flexibility in design by providing an extensive range of sensor options in terms of form-factors and types. From the world’s smallest sensor size of 13 mm2, Bio-Sign 2.0 can be applied with various form factors available today and sensor types including capacitive, optical and under-glass.

“Fingerprint authentication has become an essential feature in today’s smartphones. Fingerprint is a ‘must’ feature on every premium model today and now the adoption is increasing on mid-to-low range smartphones. By overcoming low-cost APs’ performance limitations, Suprema Bio-Sign 2.0 is set to change the game. Bio-Sign 2.0 will boost widespread use of fingerprint authentication in mid-range smartphones by providing a most economical and effective way of fingerprint authentication,” said Brian Song, CEO at Suprema.

In 2016, Suprema successfully launched Bio-Sign 1.0 at MWC 2016. Bio-Sign 1.0 drew attention from a number of major smartphone manufacturers and is set to be embedded on production models this year. At MWC 2017, Suprema aims to promote Bio-Sign 2.0 as a real game-changer in accelerating widespread of fingerprint authentication on mid-range smartphones.

Visitors based in the USA are invited to experience the latest Suprema Bio-Sign 2.0 at the upcoming ISC West 2017 in Las Vegas on April 5-7, 2017.
