Wavestore expands hybrid recording portfolio

Hayes, Middlesex (UK)

Flint, the latest addition to Wavestore's hybrid range, provides a discrete compact video recording solution for applications where desktop space may be limited or a shelf mounted solution may be preferred.
Despite its small size, the Flint is packed full of useful features including three 3.5” hot swappable hard drives, and in common with all of the Wavestore hybrid video recording models, the Flint is able to record images captured by the latest generation of IP network cameras and traditional analogue cameras at the same time. Images from any combination of up to 16 analogue or IP network cameras can be recorded simultaneously with a choice of H.264, MxPEG, MPEG-4, MJPEG or JPEG2000 compression.

Measuring 96mm x 385mm x 428mm, the space saving Flint is supplied as standard for desktop or shelf mounting and is shipped with detachable brackets for installation in a standard 19” rack.

“We have introduced the Flint as a direct result of feedback from installers and customers to address two issues which they know are important,” said Chris Williams, Director of Wavestore. “Firstly, the features of the Wavestore V5 software included in the Flint means that it can be quickly installed and commissioned, and secondly, the combination of dynamic system health monitoring, tray-less caddy design and the facility to rapidly hot swap any of the three hard drives, means that servicing time, cost and disruption are minimised.”

The Flint is designed to provide a competitively priced recording solution for medium sized video surveillance projects in schools, hospitals, office buildings, manufacturing, car parks, retail environments and a wide range of other applications that can benefit from a small unit that is easy to install, set up and operate.

The simple drag and drop function enables each user to create unique multiple display preferences, whilst the Flint offers an extremely fast search facility to allow users to be able to quickly review recorded images of any incident. The recorded video can be converted to MPEG, flash video, AVI, and a wide selection of other formats, whilst users who export video using Wavestore’s native format can benefit from features such as encryption and image authentication.

Wavestore's remote monitoring software allows users to securely monitor real-time live images, or retrieve video recorded over the network from the Flint’s hard drives, whilst multiple units can be configured into a server group to support large and distributed video surveillance applications.

As is the case with other Wavestore digital recording systems, the Flint utilises a Linux based open software platform which has proven to be highly reliable, and is supplied with a full one year return to base warranty.
