Trade Conference discusses security partnerships between state and economy as future model at Security in Essen

Emphasis The "Public Private Partnership" is in. In road construction and civil engineering partnerships between the state and the economy have been well practised as PPP-Projects for many years, but cooperation between public authorities and the economy do not exist for security questions - apart from a very few forerunners. "Security 2006 - The World Forum for Security and Fire Prevention" is the leading fair worldwide for the sector and as such caters for new market situations and trends. The fair will be taking up this topic in several events.

The Consortium for Economic Security (ASW e.V.) is holding a panel discussion "Security Partnerships - a future model" on Monday 9th October at 10.30 am. The Federal Association of German Guard and Security Companies (BDWS) is reporting on successful "Police Private Partnership" models during the football world cup under the heading "The Future of Security Services", taking place on Thursday 12th October.
In a trade conference on the morning of 13th October, aimed mainly at representatives from public authorities, designated specialists will discuss the future model "Security from State and Economy". In preparation for this conference a working committee of experts comprising members of the Security fair's advisory board, representatives of leading exhibitors, ZVEI, the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the NRW Home Office met to discuss in more detail the topic "PPP for Security".
The group of experts agreed that in the Länder and communes there should be more thought on improving collaboration between the state and the economy on security issues. It would for example be possible to transfer communal order duties, traffic control duties or patrols in the public sector. For more comprehensive solutions such as the construction of a correctional facility new models could also be designed for the financing and operation of the facility in order to bring relief to public finances.
The trade conference on 13th October, aimed particularly at members of public organisations, presents opportunities for the exchange of ideas and the initiation of new contacts. Parallel to the trade congress numerous long-term Security exhibitors such as expert educational institutions, providers of security services, manufacturers of protective equipment and security and communication technology developers are presenting their special methods of resolution for communal use. The example of the City of Oberhausen illustrates which possibilities of service transfer have already been successfully carried out and which opportunities will be available for other communes in the future.
The conference on the last day of Security 2006 is the prelude for further events on the topic "PPP for Security". At Security 2008 this area will be shown even more attention and at the same time international exchange will be encouraged.
The international security trade fair SECURITY ESSEN is regarded as the leading fair worldwide for security and fire prevention. In 13 fair halls 950 exhibitors from over 40 countries will be presenting the sector's complete range on over 72 000 sq.m. Around 40 000 trade visitors are expected to come to SECURITY ESSEN, including 5 000 employees of communes, and of state and federal authorities.
