Teleeye to release new GX680 DVRs

Teleeye is launching its new GX680 Series, a new generation of digital video recorders (DVRs). The Teleeye GX680 Series is a range of 4-, 9- and 16- channel DVRs, which are specifically designed for recording and securing video data captured from Teleeye network cameras and other ONVIF Profile-S cameras.

With the trend shifting from analogue to HD, a common concern for end-users, is that more data storage and bandwidth is required due to an increment in data size. The Teleeye GX680 MX Series incorporates the unique Teleeye HD SMAC-M multi stream video coder with four independent video streams, which is able to generate four independent video streams allowing HD video recording at max. 1080p resolution. This is made possible by compressing the HD video to a smaller size which could be up to 50% less compared to a standard H.264 video coder, leading to faster transmission via different network environments, smoother video streaming, occupying less storage resources, and allowing longer recording time simultaneously.

According to Teleeye, there are many IP cameras available on the market that are insecure as their designs are based on open standards. This means their architectures are available on the internet for all to access. This is a critical threat to those in high profile industries such as the banking and government sectors. If users are deploying an IP camera then their video footage may already be at risk of being viewed by unauthorised third parties. Teleeye believes that data security is always an important factor; therefore the new GX680 Series is specially designed with hacker resistance. The GX recorder itself is configured with five antihacking layers, which are used to prevent anyone who tries to access the video footages without authorisation, hence shielding the data from any hacker attacks via the internet or across public networks.

As IP cameras are based on open systems, this means that hackers are able to access the live video footages remotely. However those who have already installed these H.264 IP cameras, need not worry. The Teleeye GX680 Series has not only been designed to be able to enhance the security level of all Teleeye IP cameras but also for other IP cameras in compliance with ONVIF Profile-S standards. The GX recorder has the ability to completely separate the video network from an IP network. Meanwhile, it provides extra protection for the video data during internet transmission, and is thus engineered so that hackers have no direct access to the data stream and cannot steal the video data. This solution safeguards the users’ confidential information as effectively as possible.
